When

13. February 2025
6:00 am — 7:30 am

We cordially invite you to our evening event, “What Kinds of Daycare Centers Do Children Need Now and in the Future?” The event will take place on February 13, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., followed by a get-together at the German Center for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM). The goal is to discuss the current and future needs of childcare centers in the context of post-migrant societies and structural challenges.

In an era marked by a shortage of skilled workers, rising expectations regarding the educational mission of daycare centers, and changing societal demands, early childhood education systems face significant challenges. Issues such as the professional development of daycare staff, the disadvantage faced by certain groups, barriers to access, and processes of segregation require in-depth discussion and innovative solutions.

In light of the upcoming federal elections, it is clear that the needs of children—and especially their rights—are given little attention in party platforms. This overlooks the far-reaching significance that daycare centers have for society as a whole. Against this backdrop, we would like to invite you to a policy discussion to highlight the significant needs for action that currently exist in the areas of child-rearing, education, and childcare.

We are inviting experts from the fields of politics, academia, and the professional sector to participate in this important dialogue. Together, we would like to discuss short- and medium-term opportunities for strengthening childcare centers and how these can be implemented.

We look forward to a stimulating discussion with you and to exploring ways together that will meet the needs of child care centers.

The event is being organized in cooperation with the German League for Children and the Bertelsmann Foundation and the Auridis Foundation .
