Our Goals

We have joi­ned forces to drive change at all levels of early child­hood edu­ca­tion and to sys­te­ma­ti­cally break down bar­riers to edu­ca­tion. Our work is gui­ded by the UN Con­ven­tion on the Rights of the Child and the legal man­date set forth in SGB VIII. To this end, we focus on three key approaches:

Exch­ange

GeDAB brings tog­e­ther stake­hol­ders who hold posi­ti­ons of respon­si­bi­lity for early child­hood edu­ca­tion in various sec­tors: experts and insti­tu­ti­ons from the fields of edu­ca­tio­nal prac­tice, aca­de­mia, civil society, local govern­ment, state and fede­ral poli­tics, and the busi­ness com­mu­nity. Tog­e­ther, they dis­cuss cur­rent chal­lenges, share expe­ri­en­ces, and bridge dif­fe­rent insti­tu­tio­nal per­spec­ti­ves. In this way, know­ledge and exis­ting approa­ches are made available across insti­tu­tio­nal and fede­ral boun­da­ries, so that effec­tive solu­ti­ons do not have to be deve­lo­ped from scratch in every loca­tion. We are rai­sing public awa­re­ness of the issue of demo­cracy edu­ca­tion in day­care cen­ters through policy papers, pro­fes­sio­nal events, and social media acti­vi­ties. The focus is on equi­ta­ble access, par­ti­ci­pa­tion, and com­mu­ni­ca­ting sci­en­ti­fic fin­dings to the gene­ral public.

In this way, GeDAB high­lights where change is nee­ded. Trans­for­ma­tion  

GeDAB deve­lops expert gui­dance for early child­hood edu­ca­tion that pro­mo­tes equal oppor­tu­ni­ties and demo­cracy, and dri­ves con­crete chan­ges for­ward: in admi­nis­tra­tive pro­ce­du­res, policy initia­ti­ves, orga­niza­tio­nal struc­tures, and edu­ca­tio­nal prac­tice. GeDAB sup­ports govern­ment agen­cies, state initia­ti­ves, muni­ci­pa­li­ties, ser­vice pro­vi­ders, and prac­ti­tio­ners in iden­ti­fy­ing bar­riers and making access more under­stan­da­ble, relia­ble, and equi­ta­ble. In this way, GeDAB streng­thens children’s rights, par­ti­ci­pa­tion, and a demo­cra­tic cul­ture from the very beginning.
